Free Photo Booth for Business: How It Works for Florida Venues

How a free SmileMore booth works for a Florida venue: who pays, who does the work, what qualifies, and the honest catch (fit and the waitlist).

A free photo booth for business works like this. SmileMore puts one of our booths in your venue and charges you nothing for it. Your guests pay for each session right at the machine. Then, once a month, a payment arrives alongside a report listing every session the booth ran.

The install costs you $0. So do the machine, the paper and any repair. Your staff never touches it, since we watch every booth from our office and handle restocks in person. In short, price is not the real question. Fit is, along with how soon our next install batch can reach your door.

How a free photo booth for business actually works

Most “free” offers tuck a bill into the fine print. This one has nowhere to hide it, because the money flows the other direction: from the guest, through the booth, partly back to you.

Think of it like a jukebox in a dive bar. After all, the owner didn’t buy the songs. Guests feed it because they want the song, and the room gets louder and happier as a side effect.

So here is the path from first message to first printed strip:

  1. Describe your venue. Give us rough daily traffic, your opening hours and a phone snapshot of the spot you’re picturing. Two minutes, tops, so it fits between a delivery and the lunch rush.
  2. We review the fit and agree on a guest price with you. No single price applies everywhere, since a college lobby and a Brickell lounge are very different rooms.
  3. We design the wrap. The booth gets dressed in your brand palette and logo, and each strip it prints carries your venue’s name.
  4. We install. Plan on a patch of floor around five feet square and a single wall outlet. The cabinet rolls in through an ordinary doorway.

From there, a session runs about 90 seconds. Guests pose for three shots and walk away with two strips, printed on a dye-sub printer from a professional camera. One strip goes in a wallet. The other, of course, goes to the friend who will lose it by Tuesday.

Already picturing the corner? Then find out if your venue qualifies and finish reading afterward.

Who does what (spoiler: we do nearly all of it)

Owners raise the same worries on almost every first call. Who collects the money? Who loads paper? What if it jams on a Saturday? Will a bartender end up giving tutorials? The table answers all of it in one glance.

Job SmileMore Your venue
Building the machine Assembled in our own shop Nothing

Now scan the right column. That is your full chore list.

And liability? The machine is ours, so we cover it. Even so, check with your own insurer about your venue’s policy, exactly as you would before adding any new fixture to the floor.

What you get besides the monthly check

The revenue share gets asked about first. Yet it is not the main reason a booth deserves floor space.

A booth is an attraction before it is anything else. People cross the room on purpose for it, pull friends into the shot, and leave carrying a physical souvenir with your name printed on it. Many of them also post that souvenir.

Posting gets a nudge from the SmileMore Challenge. Each month, anyone who shares a photo of their strip and tags both your venue and SmileMore is entered in a prize draw. Every single entry, then, is a real customer publicly naming your business. You didn’t pay for that post, write it, or ask for it.

There is also the quiet benefit of a permanent fixture. After all, a one-night rental leaves with the DJ. A placed booth stays, so the regular who loved it in March can bring a cousin in June.

The catch, honestly

“So what’s the catch?” Fair question, and it comes up constantly. No money catch exists, but two practical ones do.

Fit comes first

A booth parked in a sleepy hallway is just a lonely box with a camera. That is why we screen spaces before saying yes, and why we turn down some of them.

So what do we look for? Groups rather than solo visitors, a social, celebratory mood, and a corner people can see from the entrance. A free photo booth for business pays off only in a room like that. We would rather lose a placement than install somewhere guests will walk past.

There is a waitlist

Every SmileMore machine comes out of our own shop rather than off a reseller’s pallet. Building in-house means we install in batches, and since demand is growing quickly, your install could land a few months after you sign up. That is precisely the argument for joining the queue today instead of the week you suddenly want one.

Geography matters as well, though. Our base is Davie, so Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach get the bulk of our installs. Running a spot in Orlando, Tampa or the Keys? Reach out regardless, and we’ll give you an honest timeline.

Proof it works: the NSU booth

Our first placement went live in August 2026 at Nova Southeastern University, in the Don Taft University Center, right in the main lobby. It’s dressed in Sharks blue and parked beside the elevators.

During its first month, students and visitors bought upward of 300 sessions. Most of those ran at $7.99, because on day five we dropped the price from $9.99 to make it easier for students to say yes.

Was it perfect? No. In fact, early on, a hardware glitch forced roughly twenty refunds. Each guest got their money back, and we repaired the fault. That, frankly, is what “repairs are on us” means once the booth is live.

Meanwhile, the praise we hear most often is about camera quality and how fast the strips print. Still, our favorite question is “Wait, is this here for good?” Students grin every time we confirm it’s permanent. You can see it for yourself on the NSU location page.

Save your spot in the next install batch

Send one photo of your corner and a few details. We’ll tell you plainly if it fits and roughly when your batch goes out.

The math from your side of the counter

Any offer is worth weighing on four things. First, how good is the result? Second, how likely is it to happen? Then there’s time: how long until you see it? Finally, what does it cost you in effort?

Now run the booth through that test. The result is something your guests seek out, plus a payment every month. The likelihood rests on a working booth at NSU, live remote monitoring and a written monthly report. Install day is short, and nobody on your team needs training. Your effort rounds to zero.

There is a safety net, too. Should the first spot underperform, we haul the booth to a better corner or take it away, and our crew does the lifting.

Florida timing helps as well, because the calendar is front-loaded. Snowbird season runs roughly November to April, and holiday party plans get locked in during September and October. So a booth that arrives before the rush gets the whole season. Want the payout side in more detail? Read our breakdown of the revenue share model for venues.

Frequently asked questions

Is the booth really free if my guests are the ones paying?

Yes. From the owner’s side, it is a free photo booth for business in every sense. You never pay for the machine, the install, the paper or repairs. Guests choose to pay per session, and a portion of that comes back to you each month.

Can I control how the booth looks?

You can. We build the wrap around your brand colors and logo, and the strip layout carries your venue’s name. You see the design before it goes on the booth.

Is my space too small for a booth?

Probably not. Picture a square of floor about five feet on each side, plus one ordinary outlet and a doorway the cabinet can roll through. A single photo of the area usually settles it during review.

What happens if guests just don’t use it?

Screening for fit exists to prevent exactly that, so we only install where we expect steady use. If a spot still lags, we can shift the booth to a livelier area, and that move costs you nothing.

So here is our commitment. Send us your corner, and you’ll get a straight answer on fit. You’ll also get an honest estimate of your install batch, even if it’s months away. Start on the partners page, because the form takes two minutes and the list moves in order.
