Local guide
Gainesville runs on the University of Florida calendar. When classes are in, downtown and Midtown fill up most nights, and a printed strip becomes the thing people stick on a dorm wall or a fridge. When students leave for the summer, the town gets noticeably quieter.
Game days are their own event. Fall Saturdays bring huge crowds into town, so expect downtown bars to be packed before and after kickoff. Graduation weekends in spring and December do the same. If you want a booth without a wait, go early in the week.
Downtown is the easiest part of town to explore on foot. Bo Diddley Plaza hosts concerts and community events, and the bars and restaurants around it sit close together, so a booth stop fits into a normal night out.
Analog booths are usually cash only, so bring small bills. Check the sign on the booth for the current price.
A real film booth has a curtain, a slot for the strip and a few minutes of waiting while it develops. Instant prints mean digital.
Weeknights during the semester are the sweet spot. Game days and graduation weekends mean lines everywhere downtown.
